I think that Twitter has a very high probability of being a fad.  But, maybe even unintentionally, I think their service (using their easy API to send messages to people and groups) has a lot of power.  Plurk is a little better in some areas, but they don't yet have an API. Ya ask some good questions.  The thing I am starting to wonder is; will the desire, effort, motivation to Twit last?  Can/Will Twitter be embedded into our daily lives for the next year, 3 years, 5 years, 10 years?
